Illinois Gun Violence Prevention Coalition
#OurOneJob as parents is to keep all kids safe.
#OurOneJob is to keep all kids safe.
Any child killed from gun violence impacts every parent. Last year in Illinois more than 4,300 people were shot and 720 died, many of them children. Sadly, gun violence is the 3rd leading cause of death for children in our country. When guns get into the hands of the wrong people, they destroy communities and families. We demand a statewide response.
Millie and Delphine lost children to gun violence and have dedicated their lives to protecting ours— all across Illinois. They phone bank, email and visit elected officials and speak out…but they can’t do it alone.
It’s all our responsibility to join them so that no one has to get “the call” that their child has been shot. The #OurOneJob project is organizing parents and community members across Illinois and activating our neighbors to ensure state representatives vote to keep all kids safe from gun violence.
Right now, we can keep kids safe by passing the Gun Dealer Licensing Act; this legislation will reduce a major source of illegally trafficked guns from entering our communities in Illinois.
87% of Illinois voters support safety measures to save children’s lives. We need 100% to get involved.
If you agree that it’s all our job to keep kids safe from gun violence, join us. When parents and community members come together, things get done… and our state representatives listen.
